An interesting ride. Setting off - as planned - at 3pm from the car park.

I can't understand why it wasn't sunny - I thought it was always sunny over that side of the bridge ;-).

Not only was it not sunny, it was foggy. I managed without lights until the end of the freeride area. After that lights on - 60% of which was coming straight back at me off the fog. With the dimmest setting, I could just about see about 3m in front of me.

So it was a slow descent. And very *interesting* at times. Very difficult to tell which track to follow when there are apparent splits. Needless to say, the wrong "track" invariably ended abruptly in a tree, or something equally unforgiving after a couple of feet. Some of the steep, sketchy bits were challenging too, but only because you didn't really know they were steep & sketchy until you hit them.

Temp was a very mild 8 degrees, and with no wind at all, it was comfortably toasty. Just one other couple on the trail - both very well illuminated. Apart from them, deserted.

Thoroughly recommended - a really different experience.

The new visitor centre was closed. Ho Hum.
